Your first trip to Phuket is a moment when you want to do everything at once — islands, shows, elephants, jungle, nightlife. But two weeks fly by fast, and choosing the wrong things means leaving with a nagging sense of having missed the best. Here is our honest list: 5 tours you will regret skipping, and 3 you can do without.
5 tours you must take
1. Similan Islands. The best full-day tour from Phuket. A national park closed from May to October, crystal-clear water with up to 30 m visibility, white beaches without crowds. From 2,500 THB with transfer. High season only (November–April).
2. Phi Phi Islands. Vertical cliffs, Maya Bay from the film The Beach, the best snorkelling in the region. Whether you go by speedboat or yacht, this one is unmissable on a first visit. From 1,500 THB.
3. Phang Nga Bay — James Bond Island. Limestone karsts rising from the water, a village built on stilts, kayaking through sea caves. Unlike anything else on the planet. From 1,500 THB.
4. Simon Cabaret. The ladyboy show in Patong is Phuket's top entertainment, and not by accident. Three performances daily, about 100 performers, choreography at Broadway level. Not a cheap gimmick — genuine theatre. From 800 THB.
5. Sunset yacht cruise. You owe yourself at least one sunset over the Andaman Sea with a drink in hand on the deck — especially if you are travelling with a partner. From 1,800 THB with dinner.
"After the Similan Islands, everything else feels a little pale. Start there — you'll be grateful."
3 tours you can skip
1. Tiger Park. Tigers in cages kept on sedatives. No reputable animal-welfare organisation recommends this facility. You'll get photos; you won't feel good about them.
2. Big Buddha + Wat Chalong as a "combo tour". Both sites are worth a visit, but many agencies sell them as a big excursion at inflated prices. Big Buddha is 20 minutes by taxi, entry is free. Do it independently and save 1,000 THB.
3. Phuket FantaSea. Expensive (from 1,900 THB without dinner), a long drive (Kamala), and the show is middling. Simon Cabaret at half the price makes a far stronger impression.
How not to overpay
The golden rule: book tours through a verified agency directly — not from beach touts. Street-agent prices look lower but come with old boats, groups of 40+, and zero accountability. Message us on Telegram — we'll reply within 5 minutes and find the right tour for your day and budget.
FAQ
How much do tours in Phuket cost? A typical day tour with transfer and lunch runs 1,500–3,500 THB per adult. Yachts and private tours from 4,000 THB.
How many tours can you realistically do in 7 days? 4–5 is ideal: 2 sea islands, 1 bay, 1 evening show, 1 free day. That's not exhausting and covers the highlights.
When should I book? 1–2 days ahead is usually fine. In high season, popular tours (especially Similans) fill up fast — book 3–4 days ahead to be safe.
